About VOKKA

"Vokka - Hope for all e.V." is a purely non-profit and non- governmental organization whose aim is to promote education in rural areas of the Far North of Cameroon and thereby alleviate poverty and stop the exodus of young people to big cities or industrial countries.

Vokka means future in the Massa language - an ethnic group located in the far north of Cameroon. Due to a lack of infrastructure, Cameroon's north suffers from substantially higher poverty and illiteracy compared to the south. This is a vicious circle, since most international development programs don't reach these remote northern regions.

Amina was born and grew up in this region of the Far North of Cameroon. She came to Germany as a young woman to access education and job opportunities. After her baccalaureate, she started an apprenticeship as Business Administrator with foreign languages and now is a successful office administrator.

Amina has been actively striving for development and empowerment through education of the regions of the Far North of Cameroon since 2009; together with friends and colleagues she founded the Wokka organization in 2014.

At Vokka, we believe small actions create lasting change.
